With its QuantumTM line of fuel cell power products, Protonex is targeting a set of demanding commercial applications that have increasing requirements for high-performance power and are currently underserved by existing technologies. These applications include:
Portable power generation Portable electronic equipment Boat and RV auxiliary power units Mobile computing Power tools Emergency and backup power Electric wheelchairs Electric scooters Among these applications, those that currently use external generators or main engines for auxiliary power, such as boats and RVs, stand to benefit from reductions in noise, vibration, emissions, size and weight offered by fuel cell technology. For applications currently using rechargeable batteries, such as specialty electronics and cordless power tools, fuel cell systems will offer extended runtimes, lighter weight and, in many instances, lower operational costs.
