and Parker Hannifin Corporation signed a strategic partnership agreement in October,
2004, to jointly develop, manufacture, and market Protonex' fuel cell products
for military and commercial customers. The partnership leverages Protonex' patent-pending
innovations and Parker's worldwide manufacturing capability, fuel cell balance-of-plant
components, and integrated subsystems to commercialize affordable, long-duration
fuel cell systems for the portable power market. |

Protonex
and Northrop Grumman are jointly developing advanced power systems for mission-critical
devices for the U.S. military. Northrop Grumman selected Protonex as the source
for its power system after an extensive evaluation program. |

Protonex received a significant subcontract from Cummins Power Generation, a $2.2 billion business group of Cummins Inc., in September 2007 to supply solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power systems for integration into a demonstration system for commercial mobile applications. Cummins, a global leader in power generation and distribution, was awarded the program by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a diesel-fueled SOFC system for on-highway truck auxiliary power.

Raytheon is participating in the development of Protonex’ 250-watt portable fuel cell power system for the US Army. Under a subcontract of Protonex’ previously awarded $3.5 million contract with the US Army Research Office (ARO) to develop a methanol-fueled portable fuel cell power source that is significantly smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient than alternative battery or generator systems. Raytheon will test the Protonex power system and assist in optimizing its functionality to help it meet rigorous military standards for performance and safety. |
Protonex has established a number of partnerships with various military branches and research agencies within the US government. The Company has been awarded more than $24 million in development funding from the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), Army Research Office (ARO), Army Research Lab (ARL), Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Department of Energy (DOE), and NASA.
